77-Year-Old Driver Charged After Wrong-Way Bangkok Drive

A 77-year-old woman has reported to police after her white Mercedes was filmed travelling against the flow of traffic on Bangkok’s Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. Police traced the vehicle through CCTV footage and asked its registered owner to report to Vibhavadi Police Station, where the woman arrived with her daughter on September 8. She was informed of three preliminary charges, including reckless driving and failing to obey traffic signs, although reports did not identify the third allegation. The incident occurred at around 1.50pm on September 7 near Horwang School, where motorists sounded their horns as the Mercedes continued toward oncoming vehicles with its hazard lights activated. No crashes or injuries were reported, and police have requested that the family bring the car to the station for examination as part of the investigation.
