Student visa after a long history of visa runs: Is it possible?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I'm in Thailand and I'm considering applying for a student visa (ED Visa) to learn Thai, stabilize my situation, and integrate more into the country.

However, I have a history of around one year of visa runs, with several entries using Safe Entry.

Do you think this history could lead to my student visa application being refused? Could immigration consider it a negative factor when reviewing my application?

I would really like to stay in Thailand in a more stable way and learn the language, rather than continuing with visa runs.

If anyone has been in a similar situation, I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Thank you very much for your help!

Talk to a language school. Many of them, if not all, also work as visa agents.

A friend of mine has been staying in Thailand for 13 years using visa exemptions, tourist visas, and now I think he is on his fifth ED visa, so it should not be an issue with your history.

Prices may vary depending on your location. Here in Phuket, the price for studies plus an ED visa is around 40,000 baht, plus three 5000 baht 90-day extensions.

Thanks for your reply!

I’ve noticed similar prices in Bangkok (where I’d like to study).

If any users happen to have recommendations for good places in Bangkok, I’d love to hear them!

Hands down two top tier schools in Bangkok are

DLS (Duke Language School, 3rd floor, Trendy Building, Sukhumvit Soi 13)

https://dukelanguage.com/

OR

RTL (Rak Thai Language 10th floor, Mahatun Plaza, Ploen Chit BTS)

https://rtl-school.com/

Both offer ED visa support if you enroll in so many modules.

Keep in mind these are not visa mill schools.. , They are real schools where you're going to show up and study or you're not going to get paperwork to continue to extend your ED visa.

Go talk to them, sit a sample class and see..

The problem is that while my income is online, it's below what's required for this visa... ☹️
