Thailand with type 1 diabetes

A family member may be coming to visit for a couple of weeks. This person is type 1 diabetic, and uses an insulin pump. The person will mostly be in Bangkok, but might also possibly be traveling in Isaan for a few days.

I have zero experience with diabetes supplies, traveling with needles and insulin, etc. and was wondering if anyone would care to share insights. (I'm not in Thailand at the moment and so can't check on these things as directly as I'd normally do.)

• Is insulin widely available at pharmacies around Thailand? I don't expect it to be as widely available OTC as say antibiotics due to the need for refrigeration, but in general is it easy to buy insulin without hospital visits, prescriptions, etc.?

• Same question, but for needles and supplies other than the insulin itself?

• Are there any issues at airport security with insulin pumps, needles, insulin in little refrigerated pouches, etc.? Are they well-versed with travelers carrying these things?

• Any thoughts about sharps management? Are sharps containers available at pharmacies? Would hotels be able to dispose of them safely?
