Locked out of my Outlook account again – Email Alternatives Please

Featured Replies

PROBLEM

When Loxinfo closed their email provider service a few years back, I paid for a monthly Microsoft subscription to get an Outlook.com email account. I wanted the Microsoft account in order to continue to use PST files for storing mailbox data, including emails, contacts, calendars, etc., as I have PST files every year going back to 2010 so want to be able to use information in those files.

In the couple of years I have been this Microsoft subscription I have been locked out several times, including twice just in this month.

This current lockout – due to suspicious activities, whatever that is supposed to be – started on Monday, I have been trying for several days to unblock the account by filling in the automated recovery programme. I fill in every box and it still doesn’t let me in.

Yesterday I filled in a ‘Request for Account Reinstatement’ online form. Today I have received Microsoft response: “Be persistent and keep trying to recover your account. Each time you try, you may remember new details that will help the automated recovery program validate you as the true owner of the account. If you are unable to recover the account, consider creating a new account”.

What a pathetic response – ‘keep trying…you may remember more details’ – I have tried loads of times, and filled in EVERY box, so any new details I could provide I am unable to provide as there is no further boxes to fill in. PATHETIC! I expected that they have asked me further question/details to provide, but ‘keep trying’ is not a solution.

I also really do not want to have to change my email address again. I want to keep the same one so anyone who has used it over the past years can continue contact to me on that email address!

I have filled in the form again today Thursday. If they do not unblock I will issue another Request for Account Reinstatement’ online form.

EMAIL ALTERNATIVES PLEASE

Whether they unblock my account or not, I think I need an alternative to this Microsoft subscription and possibly consider using a new email service provider (new email address). I am open to the idea of using a new free account (I already have a Gmail account) or an alternative new subscription account.

Ideally, I want a new email service provider which allows me to be able to use my existing PST files – is that possible?

Any suggestions please (please add if free account / subscription account / can or cannot use my existing PST files).

Thank you.

I feel for you.....previously, I've spent days trying to get back into my Outlook. account........I think at one time they sent an SMS saying they had sent an email to my account explaining how to access my account.........FFS......😡

I hear you can still get an AOL email address. That would impress everyone.

Good grief. Get a Mac or IPad. I never have these problems I read about

Apart from I'm used to and happy to use my computer (windows) and Android phone, could you explain how getting a Mac or IPad helps my problem?

I can’t explain it other than I never have these problems problems I read others having.

Could be an age (computer) issue.

Emails you can get on your computer or phone. My account has been blocked on both. This isn't related to the device being used but thanks for contributing.
