Another Trump loyalist walks away Olsen had been involved in the investigation targeting former Obama- and Biden-era officials, including former CIA director John Brennan, over allegations linked to the Russia investigation and the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case. His departure comes amid reported disagreements inside the Justice Department over the pace and management of the investigation. Sources cited by US media have put the number of departures from the wider team as high as eight, although the exact figure is disputed. The pressure is now at the heart of the probe DiGenova resigned on September 10 after disagreements over how quickly the investigation was moving. He said cases needed time to be properly built, while acknowledging that officials differed over the timetable. The departures are particularly significant because the investigation has already attracted scrutiny over its legal basis and direction. It has issued subpoenas, including one seeking Brennan’s testimony before a Florida grand jury, but no indictments have followed. DOJ insists the investigation is still moving Justice Department officials have rejected suggestions that the probe is collapsing. Attorney General Todd Blanche said after diGenova’s departure that the investigation would continue and that “nobody is slowing down”. The department has also maintained that the inquiry is being pursued by a growing legal team, despite the departures and internal disputes reported by multiple outlets.
