If the OP is female then I could see how a female teacher could be beneficial. There are variations in vocabulary, word usage and sound of voice that might make it nice to be learning from a teacher of the same gender. If the OP is male...well...I guess I would wonder about his motivations. Though to give him/her the benefit of the doubt. He/she might possibly just find females teach better, for example he/she might find them more patient.

Might be a moot point anyway: I'm not sure how many male Thai-language teachers there are, but females must surely outnumber them by a good stretch. I did have one very good male teacher once - his main job was teaching English to Thais, but he also freelanced at my small school when it had more students than usual. He was a great teacher, and a funny guy. I guess I got lucky there, because CSS's point about same gender is well-taken; we could talk about some things that I couldn't quite do with my regular female teacher, you know - about relations with women, etc. I don't suppose there are too many teachers like that out there, though.

If he were doing that, he would have been rather more specific, right? -Slim, pretty, between 25 and 30, nice teeth and good sense of humor-

Most of the teachers I had in grade school and high school were female. In college, most were male. My perception is that women tend to be more patient and anyone trying to teach me Thai would need a ton of that

Why I want to have a lady as my teacher?

Here in my work in Bangkok are nearly only men and in Germany at my university it's the same with the professors so I thought a lady as a teacher for a change would be nice especially here in Tailand
