September 6, 200718 yr The ban on YouTube has been lifted last week. And apparently, it's confirmed, YouTube has created a filter system, to prevent thai visitors to watch some videos. http://thaicrisis.wordpress.com/
September 6, 200718 yr Unfortunately, your link to that blog seems to be blogged ...... Co-incidentially, an 'academic' blog that I was writing concerning my studies at Chula, and hosted on Wordpress was also blocked... Since my blog was password access and I never gave out the password, I assume our friends at TOT are using some form of word-search software to identify blogs on Wordpress concerning Thailand. Since my blog spoke very favourably about Thailand and Thai culture etc, I find such censorship rather pathetic. Simon
September 6, 200718 yr Author Unfortunately, your link to that blog seems to be blogged ......Co-incidentially, an 'academic' blog that I was writing concerning my studies at Chula, and hosted on Wordpress was also blocked... You sure about that ? I've just tried this website (with TRUE ADSL Bangkok) and it's working fine. Which ISP are you using (and where) ?

September 6, 200718 yr Author youtube who?my life goes on without her. Are you a cousin of Sitthichai, the IT Minister ? Soon, he will have his name in dictionnary for saying : "YouTube is not a very essential Web site. Is it ?" I mean this guy is a star (and a gun fan, he has a large collection of weapons).
September 6, 200718 yr Who's to say that the Thai government won't use this newly acquired technology to block all sensitive sites: i.e those of southern separatist groups, sites favourable and supportive of the former Thaksin regime, sites critical of the CNS, sites critical of other ASEAN members, in particular Myanamar, and anything else that the government perceives as being embarrassing or critical - for no good reason - So much for freedom of speech..... The New Year's Eve bombings - here in Bangkok - were blamed on elements supportive of the former Thaksin regime (actually they were the work of a southern separatist organisation). Not everything is what it seems to be! The new filtering programmes will be a convenient excuse to ban a whole plethora of sites that are looked upon unfavourably by the present regime - and which now thanks to the new technology will be forever out of sight of the mass of the general populace. I have in my possession a video of scores of police officers blocking the progress to BKK of a number of trucks - loaded with Thaksin supporters - headed from the north-east - who were intent on joining an anti-CNS rally a few months ago at Sanam Luang.
