Cat Treats

Featured Replies

My imported cat loves Whiskas Temptations as an occasional treat, brought a huge supply when we first arrived and friends have topped up when visiting from UK and HK. Anyone found them here.....it seems that cat treats are not stocked as much as those for dogs in the usual supermarkets. Supply is running out and can't bear to deny my spoilt moggy!

Have you tried the petshops? In Chiang mia there is Ran Rak Sath Overseas petshop, and in BKK there is The Petplace. however, I can't tell you where The Petplace is. Maybe someone else can tell you.

You could also cook some chicken or liver as treats.

Thanks Nienke, will give the pet shops a try. My boy is a very picky eater, don't know why as he was originally a street cat in Hong Kong! Tried cooked chicken, fish, liver etc and only will eat the chicken occasionally. Thought about ordering direct from the company and having them shipped but not sure about any customs procedures or whether pet food can be imported.....any info anyone?

My Hong Kong street cat was hooked on Whiskas tinned food for many years. When we moved to Chiang Mai, I discovered it isn't sold here. They prefer packets because shipping costs are cheaper, but Miss Picasso won't eat them.

I tore a label from a tin of each of her two favorite flavors and talked to the purchasing manager's assistant at the Rimping at Meechok Plaza. They ordered me quite a few cases at an exorbitant price. By the time those supplies ran out, months later, Chat Gourmet was in the stores, and she prefers Thai food now.

But anyway, Rimping at Meechok Plaza. If you send an email to the address listed on the Rimping website, that's who will answer it. They can order Whiskas Temptations for you.

And if you tell them I sent you, it won't mean a ###### thing, so don't bother. :o

{I obviously assumed you live in Chiang Mai. I could be very wrong, though, couldn't I? Ditto on the P.S. below...)

Oh, you might want to try the smelly pet shop in the Airport Plaza parking garage. They may or may not have them, but they do have the only scratching posts I've seen in town, and they started selling covered litter boxes almost a year after I imported some. Picasso flings litter for distance.

Sorry should have said I live in Samui so no Rimping :o only Tesco Lotus, Tops and a Big C just opened this week but all have a poor selection of cat food here. Will try your suggestion of speaking to them, thanks!

Major Major, I outlined the best book I ever wrote in Samui. But I think you're gonna strike out on ordering Whiskas Temptations that way. I really hope I'm wrong. Keep us posted!

MM, go to the market and buy a bit of the small fresh squid. Take out the ink sac and cartiledge, and cut up. Do not cook. If she doesn't like that then she's an alien cat. 555

Thanks for the suggestion Jet, will give it a go! CC will see if Chat Gourmet is available and try it too. :o

Fresh squid is cheaper! Bt30 a kilo maybe. Give it a go. If she likes it, buy it by the kilo, wash, strip, cut, and make portions to freeze. Voila! My cats literally bounced off the walls for it.

haven't found other cat food than the usual tins and little sachets and dry food here on samui. found that tin food is not very nutritious, my cats eat and eat and poo and poo... and still cry for more all the time. mine love 'meow' dry food a lot which i buy in 20 kg bags.

for a change i give them the tinned mackerel in tomato sauce which they love. my cats run mad for cooked pla o, also available in quantities already barbecued at the markets, but cheaper bought raw and boiled in water. this at least makes them full and content! will also give the fresh squid a try, thanks jet.
