Should I Change To Jsat From True/ubc?

I am fed up with True/UBC and considering a change by getting a satellite from JSAT.

There is so much info on their website that lacks clarity so I want to ask:

1. Can I get all the top sports channels (ESPN,Star etc.), BBC and the top movie channels with the basic satellite in an easy package from JSAT, and if so which one?

2. Do you have to buy/install diect from JSAT in Bangkok (where I live) or are there any independent contractors that do a better and/or cheaper job?

3. For the few channels I want, is the JSAT solution better then keeping True i.e. paying about Bt20,000 once?

Thanks...

It works perfectly for me . Yes I can receive starsperts and ESPN .

Only you should look around for a better price , here in Chiangmai you can get them for less then 15k these days...........

Hi,

Can you give me a pointer to somewhere in CM for good satellite? I'm looking for one for a rental condo but the only place I've found so far was North Star Sat (they had a booth at Tesco Kumtieng) and their Set B was 16,500 which included about 75 channels. That sound about the money? Thanks......

Is there a programming guide channel or some list of what is coming on? To have to surf 70+ channels every hour to see what is on could get old very quickly.

You can program your receiver so that you can arrange your favorite channels in any order you like.I would go to a reputable dealer, such as Jsat. Many of these fly-by night shops are not recommended, and the few Baht you save, will cause you much trouble. There are Satellite forums such as RDI,which has many people from Thailand on it,and would pertain to you.Read about it,ask questions, and learn. They may know someone dependable in your area.Good luck with your new hobby.

Thanks but I was asking about a program guide or TV guide, not how to program the receiver for favorite channels.

UBC has an on-screen TV guide plus a monthly magazine with program listings. Do any satellite services offer this or are you basically on your own?

Yes there is a 3day guide build in......

Myself go to the Sat web sites, and download the full months on the channels I watch..... I have the JSat 'MOVE' and get all 28 Sats both 'KU and 'C' bands = more than 2,600 channels, over 500 in English..

The best of the 'MOVE' system is like yesterday wanted to watch 'LIVE' qualifying of F1, [star Sports Asia] but on the Sat I normally watch ‘Measat 1/3 KU’ did not show LIVE as football LIVE was on, so just moved to another Sat.. there are 6 different Sats from around the world that have Star Sports

I did a lot of research over 4years ago, NO other Company had what I wanted, so went with JSat, since then have upgraded my set top box 13months ago to the Dreambox, and 4 months ago upgraded the ones in the bedrooms to the same Dreambox.

Other than that No other expense…. Sorry but simply fail to understand why anyone would pay a monthly fee

I WOULD ADVISE……. Look on JSat, and all the Sats/Programs [All 28 Sats have the full TV listings] decide what you want and the price, then ask other Companies……. Do they have the channels you want? Can you phone them and speak in English? Will they go through the setup if you make an error over the phone? Do they set up everything? Connect your PC with the TV? Have FULL Instruction in English? Have a CD with everything you will ever need to know? + all in English.
