Firstly, thanks to everyone who has posted regarding visas to Oz - for people going through this process the knowledge base is awesome and I have spent many hours reading previous posts.

I have not found any posts regarding the Incoming Passenger Card and have 2 questions: (and I can not relax until she has cleared immigration in Oz!!)

1. In my invitation and sponsorship letters I made it clear that she is coming both for a holiday and to explore our relationship further by living together in Oz (I know the visa would not have been granted without stressing the seriousness of the relationship).

Does she say her purpose is for a holiday or to visit relatives/friends? Do you think it will even matter at immigration or am I worrying too much?

2. Usual Occupation - well she doesn't have one, I support her (showed western union receipts in visa application). There was no reference at all to her working now or in the past anywhere in her application - we totally ignored the issue.

For those of you whose GF did not work what is the safest thing to put here? I don't know, "home duties" ??

As a side point, has anyone heard of problems or refusal from immigration staff when GF has landed in Australia with a TV?

Ozzybloke,

With the incoming passenger card Question 2, it should not matter.

She could state holiday or Visit friends as the reason for her visit, and if asked both would be right.

Having said that, i have never been asked (or my wife)

Usual occupation, home duties would be fine.

As long as they do not have a reason to give you or her problems at Immigration, you should be fine.

If she is not entering Australia with prohibited items that are not declared(more a customs issue) or with her CV to get a job, she should be fine.

As your partner, she can join the "Australians and their families" line at Immigration and go through with you.

This saves a lot of stress.

Incoming passenger cards are also available in Thai at all Australian Airports.

It pays to keep a stack of these in your bag. She can fill one out i Thai, and then will have 100% understanding of what she is signing and declaring.

We came across a real ignorant Pr1ck at Immigration a while ago, who insisted on asking my wife a question about one of the items on the Card.

He spoke quietly and fast, and then gave me a serve when i tried to clarify his question for her.

In the end we were sent to the back of the line and asked to fill out a card for her in Thai.

Went to another Immigration officer, who was nice as could be.

More than a dozen trips in and out of Oz together, and only this one problem.

I am sure that things will be fine.

Question 1......holiday......she is on a tourist visa.

Question 2.....it asks for her usual occupation not her current occupation....if she has worked as secretary for instance in the recent past then she can put that down....I would have it coincide with the employment question as listed on the visa application....If she has hasnt worked for a long period of time or she was listed as unemployed on the application then Home duties is fine.
