Non-o For Supporting A Thai National

Featured Replies

I don't know if this is possible, so I'm asking for your help.

Is it possible to get a Non-O visa on the basis of supporting a Thai student? My girlfriend is still in Uni and is dependent on me to pay for her fees and living expenses. Would this qualify me for a 3 month, Non-O visa?

I earn enough income from other ventures back in Farangland. Any thoughts? We are not ready to get married yet, well atleast not until she finishes studying.

I don't believe there is much chance in the immediate area - suspect you would have to travel a bit further away (OZ, UK, USA perhaps). But if you want to try have her write a letter asking for the visa to be issued and take a copy of her ID card that she has signed and dated. Years ago it would work; if you can't get the non immigrant you can get a tourist visa so the trip would not be a lost cause.

Thanks lopburi,

I think I will give it a try in Hong Kong when my Non-B expires next month. As you say, if I fail, I can get a tourist visa. I'm looking for options to stay that don't require working here and having a Non-B (I'm tired of jumping through hoops). It's not easy for a 26 year old to get a proper visa. Maybe I should bite the bullet and get married.

Getting married is your only chance. You will need to prove a 40,000 baht a month income.
