Disaster mitigation center set up in Songkhla

The Songkhla Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office has established the disasters relief center to aid flood, storm and mudslide victims. The center will prepare measures to prevent and handle possible natural disasters.

Head of the office Vijit chantarapan (วิจิตร จันทรปาน) reveals that his office has been in cooperation with the Meteorological Department around the clock to update the weather condition. According to the department, a moderate southwest monsoon is prevailing in the Andaman Sea, the southern part and the Gulf of Thailand, causing heavy rain in the eastern region of the south for a couple of days. Hence, the Songkhla Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office has set up a center at the provincial city hall to provide assistance to those affected by disasters.

The center will hold a meeting with related agencies to outline plans and strategies in preparation to tackle natural disasters on October 5th.
