I want to have a crack at making some biodiesel, and i think it will help me track down the necessary bits and pieces if I can ask for them in Thai. So can anyone help with the following words

NaOH/Sodium Hydroxide/Lye/Caustic soda - I have โซดา ไฟ or

น้ำด่ๅง from the dictionary, do they both mean the same thing?

I also need methanol, isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and litmus paper, and an eye dropper (the sort with a scale up the side to allow adding small amounts of liquid to something). Of course any ideas where I might be able to get these things also much appreciated.

ไบโอดีเซล - Bio Diesel

เมทานอล - Methanol

โซดาไฟ - soda fai - caustic soda

Unless you are buying from a large chemical supplier, the caustic soda will probably not be 99.5% and you will need to use more of it to achieve the correct amount of catalyst for the reaction.

If you are buying in bulk the methanol is quite cheap - around 2,600B for 200 litres.

Things like eye droppers and syringes (เข็มฉีดยา - chem cheet yah) can be bought in a variety of sizes from your local chemist.

I think you can get these things at ศึกษาภัณฑ์พานิช, a store nearby Ekkamai BTS station.
