I visited one of the branches of a well-known grocery store catering to farangs recently. I had one of the staff help me locate a bottle of port. Since it was 12:45 I asked her if I needed to purchase it before 1 PM, which I believe is (or was) the time when the restricted period begins. She told me not to worry about that in a kind of wink, wink, nod, nod way. Sure enough, I pulled up to the counter well after 1PM with the bottle and some beer and had no problem. Did I miss the law being changed, or is compliance becoming less strict? Or did I get the hours wrong?

I think the afternoon restrictions (but don't quote me :o ) are between 2pm - 5pm.

Yep, AFAIK Can sell between 11AM-2PM and 5PM-Midnight(?)

Ouside these times 'wholesale' quantities are OK (IIRC >10 Litres).

Our Tesco insist on 'wholesale' being two cases of beer. I've tried a case plus a few cans to make up 10L but had to call the supervisor to confirm it was OK (and spent 10 minutes with his calculator), two cases is always just fine.
