I am travelling to the Uk for 10 days late this month.  I intend to apply for a new Non O - A in London. I have been in Thailand for 10 months.

I am aware they ask for a CRO check from Scotland Yard which is not more than 3 months old. I have arranged a new one of those, even though I will have only been in the UK for 1 month out of the last 12.

Does anyone know wether Royal Thai Embassy London are likely to see that I have been living in Thailand and  also request a Thai Police clearance certificate.   If that is likely, how do I get one?  from my local police in Khon Kaen, or is it a visit to Bangkok.

Anyone been through this process in London, after living in Thailand for a while?

Don't know there turn around time for O-A but you don't seem to have much time. Believe the UK check will be enough for that type of visa.

You are aware of ability to obtain one year extensions of stay inside Thailand if that fails? 800k in bank account 3 months or 65k income or combination.

Thanks for reply.  They state visa is available next working day. I have already arranged the new CRO check, which can take up to 40 days.

I have all the other paperwork apart from medical cert, which will get, and will have docs notarised and copied as required.

Reason for going this route, is that I have overspent on new house, furniture etc. Now all set up, but not maintained 800k.  Expensive for me to transfer now, as lose a lot of interest if I move more money before January, (12 month deposit)

So as was going to UK anyway, seemed worth the bother of additional paperwork for London.  Gives me the time to get the extension requirements well in place in 12, or even, maybe 23 months time.
