i am coming to thailand in january with my parents and would like to hire a car to travel around the country for a month . could anybody recomend a good rental company thats not to expensive please .

A company I have used several times and found very reliable are www.thairentacar.com , if I posted that as a link it would probably be removed so just google it. Don't think the monthly rates are on the website but they will quote you, I paid 24K Baht, about £320 for a month in a Honda Jazz, inc Vat and Insurance and unlimited mileage. They have an airport pick up or will do a hotel drop-off etc. Enjoy.

Don't forget about the ThaiVisa option: http://carrentals.thaivisa.com (they have Thai Rent A Car rates - you can get a quote for however many days you like).

I had 4x4 trucks from Expat over the years when on holiday, always had reliable cars from them. When shopping around check to see what "extras" people try to charge on top of the advertised rates. In Thailand the issue is getting hit with insurances charges, makes the cost increase from what the advert says. Do a Google search you will see all the worthwhile companies listed.

I've used these guys too and would highly recommend them. I paid 24K a month for a Chevy Estate - great value and they weren't fussing around checking for the tiniest scratch when they picked it up - unlike one company i used in the south.
