Internet Connection Problems

My internet connection has been extremely slow on wifi connection for two weeks. Sometimes unable to get online for ages.....

Plus the fact, according to a news item last week, stating that some :D decided to slice through a fibre optic internet cable , with an excavator, somewhere in BKK, could have added to problems :o

I use alot of New Zealand internet sites and have not had any problems.I am in BKK using true.

I have been having similar problems connecting to the internet in the evening hours. It isn't NZ specific, but it may be TOT specific since those with True don't seem to be experiencing the same problem.

Thank you. It must be a TOT thing. My problems were on my computer at work. On my home PC, with True, I'm not having any problems.

I've been thinking of starting a similar thread. I think I missed the cable cutting story, but I did hear that Maxnet (max-time-net?) got into trouble with TOT a couple of weeks ago for stealing bandwidth (like the cable companies trying to pirate satellite signals) and had to stop. My overseas connections got really bad about that time.

Two things about my traceroute (in windows, tracert) below.

1. You can see the mega-ms times trying to reach google USA

2. Note the timeout after 10.122.65.254

I didn't see that when first signed up for Maxnet. That's a Maxnet link for sure. Why the timeout? Anyone else seeing this?

TOT increased my speed to 2048/512 a couple of weeks ago from 1024/512 at no extra cost.

I notice my d/l speed was capped at around 120 kB/sec tonight so I checked my connection and found it is back down to 1024/512 for some unknown reason.

My last bill stated I was on goldcyber TOT ADSL 2048/512

When I login to TOT online they still have me as a goldcyber customer but with a 1024/512 line (that speed is now known as bestcyber)

I called them to try and find out what was going on and the guy at the end of the line was unable to give me an answer other than he will contact the technician (yeah right).

It took me 40 minutes to get through to their callcenter on 1100.

Had enough of this pathetic service from this shambles of a company.

Although it isn't turning out that way, I am still impressed that they upgraded you to 2 meg's at no extra cost. I just opted for the 1 meg last week (at extra cost) and it was here that my problems started (although I am able to log in this evening).

It finally happened...

the last Kiwi left, and turned off the lights.

All NZ internet traffic is now being sent to Bondi Beach.

[/quote

Bondi beach is where aussie`s on the dole live, working Kiwi`s branch out.. :o

Are you downloading torrents? Are you allowed to?

Not sure what TTT and related people are up to these days, but it is a ###### shame. Overseas connections haven't been as bad as since september. Sometimes even nothing works. If they steal bandwidth from eachother, that's fine with me, but that doesn't mean they can steal from us. We have to pay for our speed (actually quite expensive compared worldwide), but get crap in return. When you complain, they come up with great figures of national speeds and it's probably your own fault, because you are using a linesplitter or whatever they can think of is your fault.

Like already stated, I also believe they do alot of filtering on the internet addresses abroad. There were times I could not get peer to peer software working and then suddenly I can, without changing anything to my computer. Duh?

If you have your line open and unused for some time, you better reset your modem, cause you have been put on a dead end.

To my opinion one shouldn't be checked on what sites you visit or how much you download as long as you buy by the rules of law. Possibly, there is also censorship on the Thai web, so beware what you say or do. We all know about Youtube.
