Hi all,

I have all the necessary paperwork to apply for a Non Immigrant O and apply for the extention (Family). The one worry is though, that I only have about five pages left in my passport, and with my three weeks on-three weeks off work rotation, that will soon go. Cutting to the chase; 1. Will the few pages pose a problem for actually applying and getting the vise and extention? 2. What's the process with the visa, once I get a new passport?

Cheers

You take both passports to immigration and the current permitted to stay (extension of stay) is transferred in about one page of stamps. The extension itself should not take more than two pages (assume you are working outside of Thailand which would mean you must obtain a re-entry permit of half a page when you make application for extension - one month later you must appear to obtain the full extension of stay and that is another half page stamp. You will also have entry/exits stamps of probably a page. You will also have to time it exactly to make sure you will be in Thailand 30 days from application (hopefully it will only take the one extension of stay).

For most working people (outside Thailand) I recommend the multi entry non immigrant O one year visa from a Consulate as that allows 90 day stays for a year without need of re-entry permits and timing is not a problem. Availability is limited in the area however with Penang currently the best option and Singapore OK if you can show a bank account that equals 400k baht somewhere.

And When you apply for a new passport, ask for a passport with more pages!

I'd love to. But Brit passports are only 40 something pages. No extra pages anymore! I've got 7 years on my passport, but with coming in and out of different counrties and getting huge visa (Laos and Thailand) that take up a complete page..... blah blah. I believe I can actually get two passports, but again how will that affect my Thai Non-Immigration visa?
