Hi, as an experienced UK beekeeper, I'd be wary of the freeflow-type hives.  There's too many ways for bees to gum them up.  Do a bit of research on propolis.

Just get a normal hanging-frame hive, like the ones in the pictures above in this thread.  They've worked for hundreds of years and will continue to do so.  Besides, if freeflow-type hives were all they meant to be then commercial beekeepers would adopt them because commercial beekeepers are all about speed and simplicity, with them often having hundreds of hives to maintain - but they don't.
