Type O Visa

Hello everyone. My girlfriend got a Fulbright to go to Thailand, and I plan on coming along. I was planning on applying for a year, multiple re-entry type "O" Visa and claiming "boyfriend of a fulbright scholar" as my reason. Any reason anyone thinks I would be denied? Any trickier ways to get the job done if you think this won't qualify me? We're going to be there for a year, and my goals are to have as little Visa problems as possible.

Oh, I'm American and under 50.

It won't be easy. Thailand does not recognize de facto relationships.
