Alright Mozilla/internet Explorer, I May Be In Thailand, But That Doesn't Mean I Can Read Thai!

Anyone else having trouble with webpages coming up in Thai (ie Google, Microsoft, Yahoo)? It wouldn't be such a pain if I could read the Thai enough to find the "change language" link on these sites.... but then if I could do that I probably wouldn't need to change the language in the first place..... :o

Does anybody know if there's a way to change the settings for internet explorer or firefox so that pages will automatically display in English when available? I've looked, but can't find!

The quickest way to alleviate the problem for Google is to set the home page to www.google.com/ncr {no country requested}. This will give you Google in English with a Go to Google Thailand option. This step usually affects the drop down search {top right} so that will stop defaulting to locale. Problem is that language settings are scattered between the OS and the browser, leading to these 'helpful' glitches.

Probably you will have to change your regional and language options as they will be set to thai.Go on your computer to control panel>regional and language options>languages>details and change it to english.Change it also in the advanced tabpage and in regional options.

Found when I came here to live I changed my home address from UK to Thailand, often a few pages would open in Thai, I changed my PC back to UK and the the pages always appear in English...

Believe that if your address in Thailand then anything you install/download will look for the Thai version... sure an expert would know??

Changing the location makes sense, can you set your clock independently of location?

Cheers!

Yes sure.. Control Panel > Date,Time,Language and Regional Option > Regional Language Option > Regional Option > Drop down menu = English UK and at bottom Location = Thailand…….

While your in there you can go to Language > in details can add other languages [myself have 1st UK English, 2nd Thai, 3rd German]
