National Resources and Environment Ministry: new tech will be used to detect forest fire

The Ministry of National Resources and Environment will implement new technologies to predict possible forest fire, in an attempt to prevent smog crisis from occurring.

The Permanent Secretary for National Resources and Environment, Gen. Saksit Tridej (ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ตรีเดช), says a large amount of micro dust particles would typically shroud extensive areas in northern Thailand during winter, resulting in blurred visions. He indicates new technologies will consequently be put into practice to warn local people of the phenomenon and seek preventive measures.

According to Gen. Saksit, Thailand will jointly discuss this matter with Asian countries, particularly Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia, to come up with expedient measures to reduce forest fire, heat waves and openly burning activities in a bid to lessen the amount of small dust particles suspended in the atmosphere.
