I have a very dear friend who is quite elderly and ill. His partner of 17 years, a Thai lady has desperately been trying to find out how to manage his affairs.

She has paid through the teeth for advice from Thai lawyers, who have happily taken her money and told her complete BS.

She just wants the best for him, as we all do. He doesn't have a great deal of time left.

One lawyer mentioned a power of attorney in both the British and American Embassies and quoted a ridiculous price to organize it and explained that the lady should be nowhere in sight when it happened. It all sounded rather illegal, illogical and a scam.

I googled 'guardianship' and got some info but would be immensely grateful if anyone out there had the smarts and wisdom to offer info as to who to see and how to go about such a thing.

The lady is not out to skin him alive, she's simply out to keep him alive. We can't even deal with his bank anymore as they want to speak with him, yet he cannot talk due to a stroke and when he tries to sign letters to them, they reject them because his current signature is not like that which is on record.

Well....duh...he's had a stroke and has Parkinsons and Lord knows what else.

We hope to be able to get him into Bangkok Hospital by Friday at the latest...!!

Any advice or help would be appreciated beyond any words I could ever think to write.

Thanks in anticipation.

Big Paulee.

PS: If someone wants to PM me or similar if it's at all possible, then please don't hesitate. We need all the help we can get....and fast. You Super Mod's must surely be in the know, so if ya can point us in the right direction we'd be very very grateful.
