Passport Renewal

Featured Replies

I need to renew my Canadian Passport at the Canadian Embassy in BKK. Can anyone tell me what is the turn around time and the cost. I am not currwntly in BKK or I would enquire at the Embassy myself. Thanks for your help.

We need more details.

"We need more details."

Why?

I renewed mine at the Canadian Embassy in late November 2005. Once the paperwork and interview were over, they told me to come back in 10 days to pick up my new passport.

The biggest delay I had was that I had filled out the application online and printed it out. When I got to the Embassy, they told me I had to use a different form, as the online one was only for applying for a passport in Canada.

The "overseas" application was almost identical, and asked for the same information, so it just required copying from one form to the other. Minor nuisance.

I seem to recall it cost about 5,700 baht (for a 48 page "business" passport), but that was a couple of years ago. Well worth it to go for the larger PP. I had a 24 pager when I went to Afghanistan in Sept 03. I had to get a new one just over two years later as it was full. My current 48 pager is about half full already

Be aware that the Embassy wasn't issuing machine readable passports (at least not two years ago). Not a big deal though.

As Kerryd said, make sure you print out the proper application. One is for people residing in Canada and the other is for people who are abroad. I got a new one within the past year, and they are now machine readable (have to be, I believe). It was ready in about 10 days after submitting the application. The other thing that's important to know is that the Canadian Embassy only accepts passport applications from 9-12 Monday to Thursday (and possibly on Friday). Check their web site to confirm this info as it may have changed since I was there a few months ago.

  • 1 year later...

Does anybody know how much it is in Thai B? (the form says 100C - just don't know how much they charge in B - flat rate?!)

And the time they accept applications in BKK? During regular office hours?

I sent an e-mail to the website to ask such Qs...but so far I had no reply :/

If anyone here knows please help...

Thanks!
