TAT revealed statistics for tourism in Krabi for first half of the year showing overall increase of 31%.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand have disclosed to Andaman News the numbers of visitors to Krabi for the first half of 2007, showing about 1.04 million people, a strong 31% increase on the same period of 2006. They broke them down to about 532,000 foreigners which was 48% more and 511,000 Thais which was 17% more. Their average length of stay was 4.17 days, up from 3.9 in 2006. Their average expenditure was 2,579 baht, 7% up. The total revenue was estimated at 10 billion baht, a remarkable 56% increase. These estimate figures are mainly based on the 328 registered hotels who reported figures to the TAT, with a total of 12,149 rooms, and average occupancy of 57%. The top 7 nationalities registered were, in order: Thais, Swedes, Germans, British, Finnish, Danish, Australians, Norwegians, Swiss and Americans, with those from showing the highest increase of 1,540%, with only Koreans showing any decrease, of 2%, all in January to June 2007.

TAT invite travel & tourism companies to submit product offers free of marketing charges.

According to Tourism Authority of Thailand (or TAT)’s recently announced tourism campaign, “Seven Amazing Wonders of Thailand”, the TAT has segmented and regrouped its core national tourism products into a seven-point package that will be marketed worldwide. The objective of the campaign is to reach 15.7 million visitors for year 2008. In this regards, TAT has appointed Born Distinction Co., Ltd., to run eMarketing for “Amazing Thailand” campaign by focusing on all TAT’s targeted travelers from November 2007 to October 2008. TAT, therefore, would like to invite travel & tourism providers to participate and benefit from this national campaign by submitting special travel offers. On participation, their products and services will be promoted on the campaign web site amazingthailand.tourismthailand.org and they will get a chance to be included in email campaigns which will be sent to TAT and all partners’ traveler’s database of over 400,000 emails during year 2008.
