what number bus do i need to get from national stadium/MBK to banglampu/khao san area? also does anyone know of a website listing city bus routes, i've googled it but can only come up with main routes from ekkamai and mo chit.

There is an excellent paper map, Bus Routes & Map, in English available in most bookshops, cost 50 baht.

It looks there are are several options, the 174 Aircon bus goes up Phaya Thai and works its way over to Ratchadamnoen Klang.

For Nat'l Stadium to Banglamphu, take the Saen Sap canal boat. Walk up Phaya Thai Road to the bridge with the elephant heads. The boats go about every 10 min. in daylight hours, take 15-20 min. to reach their terminus beside Fort Mahakan, near Golden Mount on Ratchadamnoen Avenue. 12 baht if I remember correctly.

Bus number 47 (they only have non-aircon) red and green/yellow one. Better to catch it in front of MBK opposite Siam Square as more chance of getting a seat! Good luck.
