Jay4367
I'm moving to a small village in Nan Provence that is without telephone lines and a mobile phone works only with a very high aux antenna. Anyone know of a way or service I can subscribe to in order to have internet (email)? Don't get to technical please.
Mobi
IP Star Satellite internet. Contact Loxinfo or TOT for further info. It's not cheap and not 100% reliable, but when it's on, it's pretty good. Other than an 'aircard' via a dedicated sim to your notebook or desk top, I doubt there's anything else you can do. Mosha
IP Star is about 1600 Baht amonth, as already said when it's working it's good. I'm just looking to change to ADSL same speed and save about 1000/month.

In any case I have two fixed line phones AND an ADSL connection, but I'm about 8 kms from the exchange and that is too far for a decent connection, and its only good enough for backup. I upgraded my Ipstar over ayear ago to 512 kpbs at a cost of over 4,000 Baht a month, and it's still not that great. My latest hope is cable internet, ( I have just got cable TV), and if and when I get the internet connection, its goodbye to IPstar.
