When your pet dies, can you take them to the local wat and have them fired-up? Is there any taboo about cremating loved pets in the same ovens that are used for humans? I have a very old cat and it won't be long before this issue comes up. In the States, I had 2 cats cremated...can I do this in Thailand too?

I do hope that it still will take a while before you need this service. :o

thanks for info...i am in pattaya. just wanted to know if any taboo about mixing (not at same time of course) human and animal cremations. hopefully it will be awhile but 12-13 is pretty old for a cat :D

Some temples have no problem with this, other refuse. You need to ask around in Pattaya. Maybe Tony (from the shelter can give you advise.

As for the age, actually 12 - 13 years isn't that old for a cat. They can easily become 16 - 17 yeas old in general. Of course, here in Thailand there is quite some FIV and FeLV under the cats that roam the streets, making their life-span considerable shorter, unfortunately.

I never considered this. However it does bother me that a dead cat or dog is just left where it has died. That's very common around here.

I always bury our deceased pets, my wife understands how I feel. So if you have the space (I'm out in the sticks), it may be an option to consider if you can't get them cremated.
