My daughter just got this tattoo, and I want to know what the heck it says.

Apart from the literal meaning - "paw" = father, it is used as a (respectfully) affectionate term for HM the King, who is considered "the father" of all Thais.

It's used extensively on Billboards and other advertising media, particularly during his recent illness and in the run-up to His Majestys' 80 th birthday.

Just checked with the gf and she seemed surprised that someone would get that tattoo on the lower back. She said even half way down the back would be inappropriate.

I have seen a number of Thai males with พ่อ (father) on one shoulder and เเม่ (mother) on the other.

Maybe there's another tattoo lurking somewhere?
