Can anyone please give some advice on what plants would be suitable to grow over a concrete post and barbed wire fence to make it more pleasing to look at.

Hi JYY

Try Bourgainvillea (Spl) ? Grows quickly bracks are very colourful and those vicious thorns are another deterrent to add to the barbed wire!

TBWG :o

There are also some small yellow gourds (squashes) which are attractive, plus you can eat them!

Thanks for the advice,

Does anyone know what the Thai word is for Bouganvillia? up to now I've only recieved blank looks when I've asked for it.

Regards

Bougainville = Fuang (mid-tone) Faa (high tone, I think)

Nienke

Or if you want some attractive fencing made try this site http://www.dutchfence.com or PM me as Peter who owns the company is a friend of mine and lives and works just outside Phetychabu

Agreed, Bougainvillea is a good fencing material, especially if you want to deter people. Be aware that it does need training and regular pruning or it will take over your house.
