Hello to all I am in the process of gathering information to acquire a visa for my Thai girlfriend .I am from the USA .I think I have just about all the info I need shy of taking photos ,but I have 1 problem. On one of the forms it asks for Information about my Thai girlfriends parents such as name ,place of birth and date of birth sounds simple to me. She has been raised by her father and knows little of her mother. She has a Id and a Thai passport. But I am unable to obtain any information about her mother from her, Name but no birth date or Birth place has anyone had the same problem or can you give me any advice on this subject. I am trying to do this without a Lawyer but I am concerned this info needs to be correct . I am currently living in chaing mai with her and can do some foot work but where? Any constructive input would be appreciated.

Doesn't the father know anything? Or maybe he's keeping quiet for a reason?

If she has a passport, didn't that require that she show her birth certificate?

If neither the girlfriend nor the father are willing to help, I suggest you inform them that a visa won't be possible without having full information about the mother. That might prompt them to be more forthcoming.

I do need to dig further she said that she was not required to have a birth cert for her passport. The Father thing her relationship is not as strong as other thais and I am trying my best not to involve anybody else, it seems to just add to the confusion only because of the communication barrior so no hostility or deciet just lack of info.

Write "Unknown" in place of the missing date. In your cover letter or document manifest include an explanation. "Beneficiary's mother abandoned family in YEAR. Beneficiary has no contact with mother's family. Beneficiary's father did not retain marital or childbirth records and is unable to supply particulars other than mother's full legal name as given."

It's admirable that you want the application to be as complete and accurate as possible, but the parent's data is fairly inconsequential in an application for a K-1. What they most want to see through documentation is the strength of the relationship, her good character and your financial health.
