The above link says that there is a 14 day window to report. 7 days before or 7 days after.

I would like to make sure that the information is accurate.

I got an extension of stay on September 5. The red stamp in my passport says to do my 90 day address reporting on December 3.

So I have until December 10 to go to the immigration office and get this done?

Also, in the link above, it says to make copies of the arrival/departure card.

I have my departure card, but not my arrival card.

Don't they take the arrival card from you at the airport when you arrive in Bangkok?

The arrival/departure card should be stapled inside your passport and will be collected when you depart Thailand - it is a combined card - arrival/departure. But you do not need to make any copy for in person reporting.

You still have the 7 day window but that has not prevented some upcountry officers having other ideas so it is always best to report early.

My 90 day report is due on 2 Dec so reckon they'll slip it to Monday.  Am mailing in in this morning, EMS.  Lots of time.  And saves a trip downtown.

BTW, does the Immigration booth at Novotel at Swampyboom airport accept 90 day reports?  It's an hour drive from out my way but sure easier parking and such than Suan Plu.

Hi

I said i would go to Nong Khai in person 25/12/07 as i was given a paper stapled in my passport to do that by NK Imm when i did my extension as i do every September when i get my new yearly contract from the Uni, there where about 15 of us went on block from the Uni , some where given these instructions to report to NK in person but some were not given or told anything and it was the senior Lady that saw all of us, one of my freinds i work with didnt get the instructions or paper so last week he went to Mukdahan in person to do his 90 day report and he had no problem or questions from immigration.

I also had a peice of tm47 to report to Bangkok by post as i have always done so Saturday i sent my 90 day report along with a copy of what Nong Khai gave me and the original Bangkok tm47 to Bangkok room 206, it will be interesting to see what happens !.

The lady who is seniou at NK was nitpicking some of our contracts as the contract said we where specialised teachers but the labour office put in our work permits that we where Teachers , and she got realy upset about this and phoned the Uni! will keep you posted when i get a reply from BK

To my knowledge based on reports in forums Thai immigration counts the red stamp day as well. If stamp says Dec 3, last day would be Dec 9, which is a Sunday. I recommend to report latest on Friday, Dec 7, to avoid a penalty.

When you fill out the form for 90 reporting, the immigration officer tears off the bottom portion of the form and staples it to the back cover or the last page of your passport. The date by which you are require to return to do another 90 report is clearly stamped on it.

As for the 7 days before or after, I can only confirm the 7 days before part. I've gone in a few days early but never pushed my luck and gone more than a day late (due to it falling on a weekend). I've also heard this "rule" about not being fined up to 7 days late, but I seriously doubt if there is an actual written rule/law stating so. Remember, TIT and the rules can change any day without notice. Also, these types of situations can depend a lot on which imm. officer you get and what their mood is. Obviously, to be on the safe side go as close to the stamped date as possible.

Notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days

1. The foreigner makes the notification in person, or

2. The foreigner authorises another person to make the notification, or

3. The foreigner makes the notification by registered mail.

4. The notification must be made within 7 days before or after the period of 90 days expires.

5. The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days.

Wow...so there is an actual written law stating that we get 7 days grace after the 90 period has expired. Nice to know. Thanks for enlightening me on this.

It does depend a lot on where you go for the address notification. I went on a Monday to the Buang Kan office at about 10 am, and the officer in charge was just getting out of his morning shower and came to provide servcie with a towel instead of a uniform. My due date was the Thursday before but I decided that I would take advantage of the grace period and make the run on Monday. I was charged for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday at 500 baht per day and had to pay 2000 baht penalty for being late. The officer dug out a huge book that was about 16X20 inches and dug through the 6" thick book to find a page about 2/3rds of the way through that justified him charging me for being late. Needless to say I do not use that office for anything anymore but drive twice as far to use the Nong Khai office.

I don't think the larger offices have that problem though, but for sure have not been late since this incident happened and have no plans to be late again even though the rules say it it OK.

So my advice is always to try to do it before or on the due date and be safe.
