New Toyota Altis Coming, When?

Featured Replies

Just when i had finally decided to go for the Vios this comes along.

Glad i haven't bought a car yet but I will be soon.

My question is, does anyone know when this New Altis will be available from?

Cheers

Norman - NO ONE HERE IN CM KNOWS - ANYTHING.

I was following these news clippings/reports about the new Altis from back in July.

Just the last few days, I called/stopped in to two Toyota dealers and they couldn't tell me anything, they said maybe in May. I also got wind of a auto show in CM 1-10 Dec 07, but cannot find anyone to confirm this either. I checked with one Honda dealer, and both Toyota dealers, I figure by now they should know if they will be showing their cars and WHERE? You guessed it, even the sales manager at Honda didn't know anything about it. So, now I'm thinking the article in The Nation was wrong.

I even called the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce - they are not aware of it either.

The Thailand Toyota website is USELESS. I was able at least to find their email address. The reply I got was "sorry, no information at this time", "keep advised by the mass media". Wow, torked me off or what. I fired a message back asking them - well, who is suppose to tell the mass media - God.

I'm ranting right now, but try searching and searching, and you will come up nowhere.

I'm also waiting for the new Honda Accord to come out. I was told that it should be available to view in Chiang Mai by 22 Dec. I may be going to the Bangkok auto expo which is held 28 Nov - 10 Dec. I was planning on it until I heard about the possible CM auto show. But now, doesn't look as if that will materialize.

If you can find any info, please pass it on and I'll do the same.

Wow OK thanks for that.

Yes will do.

All the best.

I've seen the new model Altis on the roads around Rayong don't know why you wouldn't have in CM.

Toyota hasn't announced the launch of new Altis for their own reasons and they keep the date to

themselves.

Good luck to you in trying to break past company's internal security, don't blame them for keeping all the holes plugged, that's their job.

Their reasons could be valid, btw. Consider this situation - the launch is scheduled for March. So all through December, the month with highest sales, do you expect dealers to tell their customers to go home and wait? What if the launch is postponed till July? They are in business, they want to sell cars. When the time is right it will be all over the news, don't worry.

I tried to find out the same thing and kept getting different answers as well . I really wanted to buy a sedan that had side airbags and had a good safety rating. I would have bought the New Altis but the dealers told me that it would not come with side airbags, make a long story short I wound up buying the new Hyundai Sonata 2.4 exe.

It's about the same price as the Toyota Camry 2.0 litre but comes fully loaded and with a 5 year warranty, unlimited mileage.

I really liked the dealer here in Chiang Mai as well.

Sensible choice, but it's a lot more expensive that Altis.

If i wanted to buy a Hyundai, i wouldnt know where to ge here in BKK, but i sure would be interested to know where as we just bought Camry.

I guess you cant really fail with at car.

True, I would have been more than happy with a Altis or even Vios, but none of them come with side airbags . You have to buy the 2.4 litre Camry to get the side airbags option (as with the Hyundai) but the 2.4 Litre Hyundai is the same price as the 2.0 Litre Camry so I decided to go with the Sonata. And the 5 year warranty unlimited mileage did not hurt as well.

Here is a link to the Hyundai Thai set for those that are interested.
