l am under 50 & wish to stay permanantly, what options do l have? After getting advice from several sources l am considering getting a work permit to get an attached long visa. Been told once obtained l will have to pay monthly super & taxes for myself & 4 thais even if my income is zero, plus an accounting fee, total around 5,000baht/month! Anyone had experience with this? Anyway to minimize or just not pay the monthly costs? lf the monthly costs r not paid would either the work permit &/or the attached visa b cancelled?

It is my understanding that someone who has (or has not?) a work permit is liable to pay income tax. You are registered as a business or as an employee once you have applied for a work permit. However, it should be possible to reclaim some of the taxes at the end of the financial year by submitting an income statement to the Revenue Department (official name?).

Please seek professional advice whether and how much tax you can reclaim at the end of the tax year.

Before applying for a work permit you need a job - or am I missing something with your posting?

What about the salaries of the 4 Thai workers? Seems like that would add at least another 20,000 baht to your monthly expenses.

To extend a stay based on a non imm "B" visa you need a salary - 50,000 for Europeans, a bit less for most Asians. You also need to be employed by an employer that makes a turnover that covers the salaries of all foreigners employed. To put it short: no chance of 1-year extensions of permit to stay on basis of non imm "B" visa without an actually trading employer.
