Pickup Canopy Recommendations

Featured Replies

Anyone care to share their experience of pickup canopies?

I'm trying to decide what to get for my new pickup (probably a Mitsubishi Triton 4-door 4WD 2.5L)

Carryboy?

Max Fiber?

Alpha?

Any others?

Thanks.

Have a look at the new softtop just introduced for the Triton, it is electric and looks smart, I bought one last week for my triton and am very happy with it.

Thanks John. Think I need a hardtop, but would like to check out your suggestion anyway. Do you know who's the manufacturer or where I can get more information?

Do you mean a tonneau cover or a station-wagon look-alike?

I chuckle when I see a four door pickup truck with a camper shell. All that trouble to end up with a station wagon! :o

Yes, but an extra hard top on a pickup is much cheaper than a station wagon!

A pick-up with a plastic box on the back - can you imagine the carnage in an accident if you allow people in there?

Most of the "lids" are pretty badly styled.

a wedge just looks rediculous.

The Mitsubishi has the added problem of a curved sideline.

Materials - Composite - glass-fiber or Plastic

Ones with sub-frames tend to become detatched after so many speed bumps or off-roading.

Black plastic are cheapest.

Some only hinge from the front end, whilst others can be raised parallel to roof height which is much more convenient for that odd large load

Fiberglass splits and crazes.

Try Aero - they do a color coded plastic one and have a factory near Rayong.

Fitting the things is often fuc_ked up by the retailer - if you can get it factory fitted you'll get a better job. So if the factory is near where you live, so much the better.

A little of topic but i'm thinking of getting one of the 'CITYBOY' tops for my vigo - No windows, top hinged back door. Any idea on prices and where in Bangkok or Pattaya to get one?

TIA
