Pay For New Pickup With Credit / Debit Card From The Uk?

Hi,

Does anyone know or even better done so if the dealers in thailand will allow me to pay for a brand new pickup etc with a uk debit / credit card? and if so what if any other documentation i would need in order to own the car? would i be allowed to use my card and put the car in the wives name?

I know it may not be the most finacially efficient way to purchase a car but for me it would be ideal, whilst im in thailand rather than arranging finance in the wives name etc etc as i can re arange the finance once im back in the uk.

Thanks....

If it is visa or m/card you can do it no problem.

Hi

May be a good idea to inform them first (Visa M/card), especially if its a new card or has never been used in LOS before. Better safe than sorry

Good luck

Good advice from dave, call them from the dealership and tell them you are about to do a swipe transaction for x amount,.

I bought my Nissan Navera on my Canadian visa credit card. Just had some small problems with who had to Eat the charge fee. let's just say I'm still hungary. But they didn't throw in window visors! I did get box liner, paint seal, window tint, running boards, window shade and floor mats.

Ok thanks for the advice,

does anyone know if they differenciate between credit and debit cards in Thailand? i.e as in the uk a debit card incurs only a single small fee whatever the amount whereas credit cards incur a 2-3% fee (to the merchants)

Hi djmpfree

I'm not 100% sure but I would expect to be charged about the same (western) rate for using a Cr card here. BIG BUCKS when you think of the price of a car/truck transaction. :o

Why is it that Nissan Navara owners seem to be rendered incapable of spelling the name of their own vehicle? :o
