Isuzu-every 5000km Service

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I just wanted to ask about service the car (change oil and everything needed).

Isuzu reccomend every 5000 km.

what do you think? for me it looks really too often.

more normal is every 10,000 km..

Bottom line-I dont know .advice me. :o

In my experence, diesels have a shorter service intervals than petrol engines, my Ford was 5k service from new, then every 10k.

5k for regular services seems very short, you sure you're reading the manual correctly??

I have 105,000 km on the clock.

I just bought the car and as I bought the car I took it to service and check everything needed to be changed. (99,400km).

isuzu gave me a card with the next service to be on 104,400 km).

Do you think I should really follow this thing or I push it little bit to lets say 7000-8000km instead of 5000km ??

Of course I dont want to make any damage to the engine..

+What the thing with the radiator, when I bought it the thai guy filled the water for the radiator with regullar water and I asked them to change the water to speciel radiator water they told me "no no problem at all isuzu ok.." ??!!!

And I'm talking about main dealer in town, originaly isuzu garage.

This site http://www.reeds.co.za/maintenance.php (not particularly Thai I know) suggests 7,500 or 10,000 depending upon the engine, so I would think you're fine stretching to 7,500 :o

The Isuzu Rodeo (D-Max) pickup in the UK has a 12,000 MILE service interval http://www.carpages.co.uk/isuzu/isuzu_pick...te_16_09_02.asp

Dunno about not needing corrosion inhibitor in the coolant, I don't think it would hurt to put some in :D

My old D-Max 3.0L LS had to change oil every 5,000 km. My new D-Max 3.0L VGS LS every 10,000 km but every 5,000 a check.

so every 5000km its the best.

this time I'll late 1500-2000km anyway.

About the radiator I'll go there and ask them to clean it and change the water,I think that it will really damage the engine in the long term.

in regular cars they reccoment on speciel water for radiator.I cant see any reason for diesel engines to be any different, radiator is radiator.

I'm dissapointed from the un proffesional attitude in the isuzu (at least where I live).

Diesels need their oil changed more frequently than gas/petrol engines. I know that older engines, like my old Mercedes 240D, should have the oil changed every 3000 miles (5000 km). I would think that newer engines could go a bit further, but if I were interested in a long and trouble free engine life, I'd change the oil at 5K!

It's not much of an inconvenience and they do seem to have regular parties in Ranong. :o

Missed my first 5k service on 3.0L D-Max new in June (non VGS) and hit the garage about 6000. I wanted the oil and oil filter changing. They said I didn't need to do the filter but I insisted (I asked these questions of the bretheren here for advice). They gave me a paper card with the next service "scheduled" for about 7k hence but it will go back for 10k and every 5k as per the book which comes with the car. For the sake of about Bt1000 or so 2 or 3 times a year I am happy to have them change the oil and the filter.

The way I look at it, it cannot harm anything whilst not doing so may, even if the chance is only marginally more. Your driving style will obviously have an impact and in Pattaya its stop go stop go etc.

Have put 81000 km on 3.0 Isuzu. Book recommends 5000 km oil change, this was free for first 50000 km. serviced by dealer. I paid for oil. Oil filter is small, (about same size as used on graden tractor) so I have it changed everytime with oil even though Isuzu says change filter at 10000 km interval. Isuzu also recommends air filter change after 50000km, found milage dropped at 35000, so changed, and km per liter went back to normal.
