Suing In Thailand

Featured Replies

I paid in advance for some goods from a diving shop, and they were never ordered and the chap won't give me my money back either. In the UK I'd pop down the small claims court, very straight forward. I am slightly more pessimistic of my chances here in Thailand, but think I should sue for my money back.

Have any TVers brought a private prosecution against anyone in Thailand? Any good lawyers to recommend?

Read the post "Squatters at Banrak" in Samui, koh Phanang local posting. On going...

Yes I have done it twice, one a builder, and one a LAWYER. I won both times and got punitive compensation. It actually was the first time I have ever taken anyone to court in my life, but I will not put up with scamming.

If the law is on your side, the courts are very fair in my experience.

Usually however, the mere threat of going to court, take it to the wire, will make Thai's back down. They really don't like it, at least up here in Issan.

You are not in Issan obviously, not much diving up here, apart from ducking and diving, and ahhhh.. the other thing :o but its probably not much different I guess
