Looking For Reliable Orthopedic Doctor Or A Natural Alternative In Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Over a 1 1/2 month ago, I fell off of my bicycle back in the USA and landed on my left hand. I had what appears to be minor trauma in my wrist and minor swelling around hand knuckles. As long as I did not put a lot of pressure on my knuckles, my hand was very usable and I waited for my hand to heal naturally. I continued to do normal things using my hand including riding my bike. I figured when I got here I would have it examined if it didn't improve a lot. It only improved a little with the knuckles still swollen, so over a week ago, I went to CM Ram and the Ortho Dr. on duty had it x-rayed and examined. The doctor didn't find anything wrong other the the swelling and just gave me a 7 day prescription to bring the swelling down. I researched the drug and found that Merck (the drug manuf) removed its (USA) FDA request for approval last April, so I didn't get it.

I would prefer a gentler natural remedy to bring the swelling down and heal my hand but absent that, before I start taking potentially dangerous drugs, I want a good non-craze drug doctor to examine me further and tell me I have no other choice except to take a drug.

Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Thanks

Try icing it a few times a day and taking Ibuprofen in safe amounts.

This kind of injury takes a very long time to heal. I had similar and felt the effects for a year. Now it's very normal.

You can consider getting an MRI done by a competent specialist if you don't see progress.

The Ortho doctor told me to soak my hand in warm water twice a day. When I asked not cold?, he said no, warm. It gets confusing which to apply.

Why Ibuorfofen? I generally don't have any discomfort or pain except for momentary ones when I make a "wrong" move and exert too much pressure on my knuckles.

A friend suggested that, just in case the x-ray didn't show a possible hairline fracture, which I really doubt I have, as I felt down somewhat gently but enough to put lots of pressure on my hand.

A year :o , I planned to do a lot of bike riding. I am a bit concerned about continual fatigue placed on the wrist and knuckles if it isn't healed.

No choice, I guess.

Regardless, thanks
