One morning in a posh hotel breakfast room, a guest called over the head waiter. "Good morning, sir! I'd like to order two boiled eggs, one of them so undercooked that it's

runny, and the other so overcooked that it's tough. I also want some rubbery bacon, burnt toast, and butter that's so cold it's impossible to spread. Finally, I'll have a pot of extra-weak coffee, served at room temperature."

The bewildered waiter almost stuttered. "Sir! We cannot serve such an awful breakfast to you here!" "Why not?" the guest replied. "That's what I got here yesterday!"

Reminds me of breakfast in a several Bangkok hotels. All I wanted was bacon and eggs on toast and hot, white coffee. Nothing more - nothing less. Despite my Thai other half explaining slowly and carefully to Room Service I always get:

* Bacon & eggs on a plate

* Two slices of unbuttered toast, 2 butter portions, 1 portion of raspberry jam (or 1 portion of marmalade)

* Cup of black coffee, 2 sachets of sugar, small jug of milk (or usually a sachet of CoffeeMate)

* Glass of orange juice.

I have to butter the toast and put it under my bacon eggs and I don't drink the orange juice.

Maybe I swhould start to have a Thai breakfast of rice soup.

One of our guys ordered steak, french fries (they don't understand chips here) and a fried egg at the hotel restaurant.

What he got was steak, fried rice and an omelette. :o
