DamianMavis Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Didn't check the installer for a week and went to look at the new programs and was very happy with a few so wanted iphoners to know about them in case they don't check the installer regularly. Websearch v1.2.1: EXCELLENT search program, what it does is open a page with a list of search engines and when you click on a search engine you type in the keyword you are looking for and it goes right to that particular search sites page with your keyword already found. For example, by default it lists google, imdb (movie database), wikipedia, youtube, amazon, ebay etc.... So if you wanted to search ebay for jewellery you would open websearch, click on ebay and type in "jewellery", this automatcally starts a search on ebays site and brings you right to your findings. Normally you would have had to open safari, let it load, then load up the ebay site, then type in the search and load the findings, so it saves you 2 webloads, VERY CONVENIENT, especially on edge. You can also add your own site search engines, I added thotbot which is a world of warcraft search engine! iboard photo book: I am getting more and more impressed with the potential of this device. This program opens pics that you can manipulate ala "Minority Report" style like in the movie, you use your fingers to move several photos around your screen, zooming in and ROTATING the pics as you see fit with your fingers, grouping them and seperating groups, very good if you want to show several pics at the exact same time and move them out of the way or enlarge them instantly, this gives me hope for future program ideas that will use this technology. psx4all: probably most people wont use this but its a playstation 1 emulator on your iphone.... imagine playing resident evil 1,2 or 3 or Final Fantasy 7,8 or 9 all on your phone.... boggles my mind, but I grew up playing those games so means more to me than others heh. imoneytrackin: financial program the links with the database online, played with it a bit and so far its the best financial program available for the iphone so far. Check them out iphoners! Damian

I think we'll see touch screen tech move onto Macs pretty quickly.. I find myself missing those features on my MacBook Pro - light photo editing with the mouse seems so old fashioned and ineffective after using the iPhone.
DamianMavis Posted December 24, 2007 Author Posted December 24, 2007 (edited) After messing around with the psx4all program I'd just like to add that is it still not perfect as many games dont work or dont work at full speed. But I'm sure soon enough it will be working for most games as the programmers are working on it constantly. I agree, if they have this touch screen technology working so well on a phone... its just a matter of time before they implement it in a big way on home computers.... but the one thing you have to wonder about is how do they implement it with convenience of use in mind? It takes alot of work to raise your arms and manipulate a screen like a monitor! haha, they will have to find a way to make it so you manipulate something down in front of you so your arms don't get tired.......
