Is it something closer to what's in Udon (a soi with about 10-20 bars with 3 or 4 girls in each) or closer to what khon kaen has - about 3 farang bars with no BGs. As Ubon is a big city, there are various kinds of nightlife, - ask the expats in WrongWay or N'Joy, and they might be able to give you more details!
