Seeking Info About Trang

Hi,

We are trying to find out if moving to Southern Thailand is a great idea or not. Some family in law around Hat Yai, but I think Songkhla province is a bit to close to all the problems in the South.

So where should we go instead?

Trang looks like a very possible option, so we have a few questions about the area:

1) How many farangs are there?

2) How much does a typical house cost (4+ bedrooms, not to far from the city, preferably in a area with some nature)

3) What about crime? Is it necessary to live in a gated community?

4) How much does a piece of land cost (1 rai or so)

5) Is there an international/bilingual kindergarten and an international/bilingual school?

I have read a lot of posts about Trang, so we already know that there is an ok hospital (Wattanpat) and that there are some farangs.

Thanks a lot,

I was just in Trang, actually Kangtang researching the possibility of building a boat there and was quite impressed. I have been to Trang many times and always seem to get lost in the city lacking in road signs. Land seems cheap but I am comparing to Phuket. I have been quoted 250,000/rai to 300,000/rai with coconuts and cheaper much cheaper with rubber especially if you are looking for 10 rai plus.

It is Muslim though and I would always look for where the Chinese live myself.
