Will they count the extension from date I present myself at immigration or from Jan 15th (the day on which the original visa expires)?

Thanks for your input.

The will count from your permitted to stay until date that is stamped in your passport on entry into Thailand - believe you may be calling it your visa expiration date in error. A visa expiration date is the "use by/before date" that is stamped on the visa itself by the Consulate.

I remember answering the same question to probably the same OP over at Lonelyplanet just 15 minutes ago :o

As Lopburi said, it's your remain to stay date, not your visa expiration date that is the factor here.

Also, the date on which you do your extension is of no consequence, The date admitted until is going to be extended with 30 days.

Some offices are only giving 7 days extension.

In order to get 30 days you should have a ticket for that date in your hand when applying.
