The situaton,

I did three back to back boarder runs to cambodia, then went to penang to get a 60 day tourist visa, but was only issued with a transit visa I got 30 days on arrival and today went to the immigration office and got a 7 day extesion, I have a tickect booked back to the uk on the 23rd of febuary, I have been told that I wont be able to do a visa run to the border, and i cant go to back penag again.

Whats my best option?

What would happen if I went to HK or Macau for one night, would they give me a 30 day voa on my return to bkk? or simply just not let me back in?

Any help/info.advice would be great

There is a limit of 90 days using visa exempt stamps in a 6 month period (as many as you want, just the number of days in Thailand cannot be greater than 90 days during the 6 months using the visa exempt stamps). You would not be able to use them again for around 2 more months after your transit visa entry ends.

Your only real option is to fly to another country and visit a Thai consulate/embassy and try to get another visa. Vientiane is probably the best bet.

Do you have any other Thai visa's in your passport? Strange that they would not give your a tourist visa if you only had the 3 x 30 day visa exempt stamps.

yes I do have alot of other tahi visa in my passport, My non-im O finsihed last year and thats when i did the thre back to backs, but hadnt broken the rules with regards to 90 days within 6 months etc.

Real Pain as im leaving in feb for over ten months!
