Training Classes In Phuket?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Thought I'd ask if anyone knows of dog training/obedience classes in Phuket. I know there's the dog school where you're supposed to leave your dog for 2-3 months for daily training, but I'm not sure I agree with that approach - maybe they would learn something but I wouldn't! I've only had my dogs for just under a year and don't really know how to train them properly. If I send them off to "school", I somehow doubt they would still be much more obedient to me, even if they know the commands.

So, I would much prefer a class I could take them to, where I would be doing the training with someone who knows how to instruct both dogs and owners. I find it hard to just follow written instructions when it comes to something so practical and would prefer to have someone to teach us.

Both my doggies are "rescued dogs" - Sally lived under a friend's car when we found her and Thai (I know, boyfriend's idea of a good name) was adopted from the Soi Dog pound at 3 months. They know some of the basics like sitting down etc and have rules about what they can do in the house and what they can't, but for example coming when called would be great... :o

Any ideas/info?

I am in a similar position. Not wild about leaving our puppy for three months at the Phuket dog school. However I have found some great resources on the net to help me train her myself:

This one helped me to train her to come when she is called:

PM me if you want any more links to training sites

Couple of weeks ago I've met a very good guy from Hong Kong at a dogshow here in Phuket,

He will very soon open a dog school here in Phuket. It seems to me that he is a very good trainer and handler.

Took my 2 Rottis for a test training, it was amazing what he could do.

I will inform you here in the Phuket subforum when he starts.

You don't have to leave your dog at the school. I didn't and know others who also made the daily trip.
