What Is Iom?

Featured Replies

Hi all, sorry is these sounds like a stupid question, but people keep telling my Thai wife about IOM..now i have not come across this in a settlement visa application to the UK? she is very getting very worried about this..can anyone shed any light as to what, wether and why pls?? Thanks in advance!

Wht are they asking?

This is the only thing I can find that relates to the Initials.

I.O.M

But no idea why they would tell her about this, unless they think it might assist in settling here?

Others might have the proper answer for you.

Good Luck

But without reading the whole website, it appears that they help in returning migrants, not something you would be interested in, I would suggest, sorry can't help.

^^ Do you mean the International Organisation for Migration, affiliated to the United Nations? From their blurb, they are for "promoting humane and orderly policies in the movement of people across borders.." see www.iom.int/

Your wife will need to know about them in the context of obtaining a TB certificate to enter the UK for over 6 months, such as her settlement visa. In short, she'll have to go to the IOM office in Bangkok to show she is free of TB and to obtain a certificate to that effect before she puts in her visa application.
