Doctors Sentenced After Cosmetic Procedure Leaves Patient in Com
Doctors Sentenced After Cosmetic Procedure Leaves Patient in Coma Two doctors in Bangkok have been jailed after a cosmetic surgery six years ago left a 27‑year‑old woman in a coma. The surgeon, now known as Thunpaphat Poonyaphatworrachote (formerly Chatree Promchot), received a six‑month sentence, while a second clinic owner, Penlada, was sentenced to three months. The victim, Chayapha “Ning” Hirunyanit, remains unconscious as her family accrued more than 10 million baht in medical debt and sought 29 million baht in compensation, which the surgeon failed to provide. The court issued its ruling on August 20, providing some closure after years of hardship for the family. -

Michelin Chef at Jay Fai Under Probe Over B4,000 Omelette Pricin
Michelin Chef at Jay Fai Under Probe Over B4,000 Omelette Pricing The famed Jay Fai restaurant in Bangkok is being investigated by the Department of Internal Trade following reports of a 4,000‑baht crab omelette, despite a menu showing a lower price. The owner was fined 2,000 baht for not listing the price, and now authorities are examining whether the dish’s cost exceeds reasonable ingredient value—overcharging could carry a penalty of up to seven years’ jail and a 140,000‑baht fine. The probe was sparked when a YouTuber flagged the inconsistency between menu listing and actual charge. The outcome could seriously impact the Michelin‑starred establishment’s reputation and legal standing.
