Thai Cat Palace

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the Thai Cat Palace really exists. I have heard it's in an old house on Boromarajajonani Road and they breed the rare Maeo Khao Mani cat. Anyone actually been there?

Do a Google search, will tell you all.

Yeah, that's the problem a Google seach lists 10 different web sites with the same word for word vague reference to the cat palace on Boromarajajonani Road. Bangkok A to Z guide makes reference to it but adds "I'll believe it when I see it".

Is that some sort of Siamese cat ?? :o

I don't know about a cat palace, but BKK is full of cat houses!

Now that you've spiked my curiosity, I am interested to know if it exists. I have 3 cats and love them dearly.

Thai Cat Palace Among the famous breeds of Siamese cat, the white pure Maeo Khao Mani, with the dominant feature of diamond eyes, has been favoured through history by Thai royalty and the elite. In an old Thai-style house on Boromarajajonani Road, a number of diamond-eye cats are bred and shown to visitors. Every cat of this kind has one light blue coloured eye and one that is amber. Valuable amulets called "Phra Somdet" and antiques are also displayed.

Thanks but these are two of many web sites that reference the Thai Cat Palace, but has anyone actually been there? I have searched, Virtual Traveler, Lonely planet, Trip Advisor , Fidors, Nancy Chandler, etc. etc. etc. and I have yet to find anyone who has claimed they have actualy been there.

I recall reading about this place years ago in a Bangkok Post article. Sounded interesting (I'm a cat person) but if memory serves, it did not entertain visitors. If that's the case, it would explain the seeming paucity of information.
