Re buying a piece of land... Just wondering if it's possible and how much it's likely to cost to divide that land being purchased, detailed on a single chanote, into two (or more) pieces, giving each new piece to different owners with it's own chanote paper. I've got the idea that the cheapest time to do this would be at the same time as the seller transfers the land at the land office, otherwise there would be more transfer fees to pay if the land was split after the initial purchase/transfer. Anybody got the official line on this one?

We did just that. One piece of land split into two with both pieces bought by two different people. The method is to first split the land into two pieces (costs about 3,000 baht including the paper work and the survey which was required...a more difficult survey would have cost more I suppose) and then process the sale of the two pieces in the normal way (cost varying depending on value of land etc.). This can all be done in one day (except the survey) if you get to the land office early...at least we did it in one day.
